Last Minute Halloween Costume with Forever 21

This year I have been so busy with school and everything that I haven't even been able to have time to really think about a costume or going to get a costume. But, last minute Halloween plans require a last minute costume! There is nothing that I hate more then buying a cheaply made Halloween costume at a store for 30 to 50 dollars (even the skimpy ones!), that I will  only wear once. So I made a shopping trip to Forever 21 to see what I could find! Apparently feathers and the whole Tribal theme is in so I went with a costume  that would be along the lines of Pocahontas/Native American-ish. I ended up spending around 30 dollars for accessories and a shirt that I will be able to get more use out of.

Here is what I got...

Leather Studded Bracelet
$ 7.80

Tribal Type Necklace
$ 6.80

Cropped Feather Shirt
$17.80

The rest of my costume consists of pieces that I already own..

A basic black/gray skirt

Vintage Mocosssins
(They were my moms back in the day haha)

Feather Earrings from Claires

some random bracelets..

And here is the costume!

Happy Halloween Everyone!!! =)

mmm Red Cherries :) .. Lashes that is

I have heard some things hear and there about the brand Red Cherry for false eye lashes. I was also getting sick of my usual lashes. So it was the perfect time to order some! I ordered the Red Cherry False Lashes off of e-bay (Click here to go to the seller page).  This particular seller sells the lashes in either 20, 15, 10, or 5 pair. I bought the 5 pair of lashes for $11.63 (with free shipping) which ends up being around $2.32 a pair. Not bad. Note that these lashes do not come with glue. The false eye lashes that I usually wear are the E.L.F dramatic set of lashes which are priced at only a dollar. I usually only wear these one time before throwing them away.
Red Cherry lashes are natural lashes that are made out of 100% real human hair.  It was really hard to decide what styles to choose becasue the e-bay page does not have pictures so I was constantly having to go from google images back to the seller page. The styles that I ended up picking were 747L, 43, 532, WSP, and 218. Some of them look pretty similar but all of the pairs are unique to the effect they give to the lashes. All together I feel that these lashes look very natural, even the more dramatic ones. They look a lot more natural then the E.L.F lashes since they are made of human hair and they are not as shiny.
Let me just say that it is really hard to get good up close eye pictures. I tried my best! lol I applaud all of you bloggers who have the amazing up close eye pictures! Kudos.

#747L
I am pretty sure that these are the longest out of the bunch. And boy are they long!

#523
These ones are pretty similar to the #43 lashes but they do not give a lot of volume all the way to the end of the lashes, or at the base of the lashes.

#43
This set was my absolute favorite. They gave a lot of volume as well as length. Yet, they looked so natural!

Look at the VOLUME!

#WSP
These were very uniques lashes. I have never tired any lashes that are wispy like this! They gave amazing length but barely any volume. The only volume given is right at the base of the lash line.  I feel that these are more appropriate for daytime looks because they are not that dramatic (even though they look like they are in the up close pic).

#218
These lashes are the most similar to the E.L.F Dramatic lashes that I have been wearing. They have the same tapered effect and amount of volume and length.

I had a lot of fun trying out these different styles of lashes since I am used to the same style. Instead of throwing these away right after using, I have been re-wearing them and they are holding up really well. I have worn a couple of them 3 times and they are still lookin' good  =) I am planning on getting more of the #43 and #WSP styles because I liked them so much!

Just to let everyone know, once I reach my goal of 100 followers I will be doing a giveaway! Woot! So be sure to watch out for that.

Has anyone else tried this brand of lashes? If so, what styles do you recommend?

Fall Fashion Trend: (Faux) Fur Vests + OOTD

Going around all the stores at the mall, I have been seeing a lot of one thing... Faux Fur. Whether it is vests, scarfs, or jackets fur is def. in. I must say that I am liking it. A fur vest is a way to add interest and texture to a boring outfit while keeping you warm. It is also a good way to channel a cool 70's vibe to your wardrobe. You can  find very inexpensive fur vests so you are not breaking the bank! Here are a few vests that I found on Forever 21's and H&M's websites.

And I could not help myself but purchase a fur vest while I was at the mall haha. I picked mine up from Forever 21 for $22.80. I could not find this exact one on the website but I am sure it will be on there as a new arrival.

And here is the OOTD...

Head band: Forever 21
Vest: Forever 21
Jeans: Vintage Flare from Pacsun
Shoes: Wedge clogs from DSW

For my makeup, I went with a neutral copper smokey eye using my Naked Palette and some Red Cherry lashes (which I will be doing a review on soon!).

Complete Matte Velvet Plus Foundation Review

Let me first start off by telling you about my skin type since you may not know. I have pretty oily skin with large pores. I am also slightly acne prone. My regular foundation routine consists of a oil reducing primer and a pore refining solution. (Bare Essentials Oil Control Primer and Clinique's Pore Refining Solution) Previous to buying this foundation, I had been using Revlon's Colorstay foundation and Estee Lauder's Double Wear foundation. I loved the full coverage of these foundations but I felt that they weren't giving me enough oil control and they did not truely last all day. I read a LOT of reviews on different foundations and Make Up Forever's Matte Velvet Plus seemed to be the one that would suit me the best. I was really bummed to find out that the JC Penny Sephoras do not carry this foundation. Since the closest stand alone Sephora is a good 40 minutes away from me I decided to try my luck at purchasing this online. The cost of this foundation is $34 for 1.01 fl. oz. Not to bad when comparing it to other high end foundations. This foundation comes in a wide variety of shades (16 total).  They are numbered from the lightest shade which is No.15 to the darkest shade, No.90. The shades are then classified by skin undertones (yellow, pink or beige). I really love that they included the beige undertone because some people just do not have mostly pink or yellow undertones ( like me).  Here is the shade that I ended up picking...

No. 45 - Soft Beige (for medium skin with beige/pink undertones)
No. 45 - Soft Beige

...And it was a perfect match! Yay!
I noticed that on the actual bottle it is not labled very good with the shade. I forget where I saw this but someone said that the shade is the last two numbers of the first line on the bottom of the bottle. Not a very smart place to put it if you ask me...

The packaging is excellent! The container is plastic so it will not break if it is dropped. It has a pointed applicator end so you can get just the right amount of the product that you want.

The first thing that I noticed when using this product was that it has a distinct smell. To me, it smells like baby wipes. This is fine for me since it doesn't smell horrible but if you do not like any smell to your make up than you might not like this.

I have heard that a lot of people find that this foundation drys very fast so that you have to work fast with it. I, however, do not feel that it does this: not nearly as bad as the Revlon Colorstay foundation. I usually apply it with my E.L.F powder brush and I do not have a problem! A little bit of this product goes a LONG way. It is definatly a full coverage foundation and is buildable from that! It covers up pores, imperfections, and blemishes. The bigger and more red blemishes that the first initial layer does not cover, I dot on a little more of the foundation as a concealer.

This is oil free and water resistant. Upon using this foundation, you will notice that your skin is instantly matte. It is not a weird looking matte though. It gives a very natural finish to where I do not feel that I need to set it with any powder. (I usually do in my T zone though) This foundation, even though it is full coverage, does not feel like a full coverage foundation. It is super light weight to when wearing this on my face, it feels like I am wearing no foundation at all.

I do feel that this foundation stays true to it's mattifying powers! Using the foundation alone, without a oil control primer, I will only get a slight bit oily a good 7 or 8 hours after applying on an especially humid day. The staying power of Matte Velvet Plus is also amazing. I would consider this a long wear foundation like Estee Lauder's Double Wear. To show you just how long it stays on...
Monday's and Wednesday's are my crazy busy days. I go to school from 12 to 5:30, work out at the gym for an hour, go home and do homework, and then around 10 oclock I go to my boyfriend's house until about 1ish in the morning (now you know every detail of my day haha). This foundation literally lasts this whole entire day without budging. Even after working out and sweating my face will look as good as it did when I went in and is not oily afterwards.
Can you say amazing?

I can. I have fallen in love with this foundation. I can tell such a difference from using my previous foundations to this one. I feel that it is a high quality foundation for the price you are paying. I recommend this foundation to any one with slightly oily to very oily skin who likes a full coverage foundation. I would not recommend this to those of you who have dry/non oily skin because it may be too drying for you. I also would not recommend this if you do not like certain smells in your make up.

Overall this gets <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 5 Hearts! haha because I love it so much!

A Classy Date Look From Head to Toe

The Look

Breakin it down..

The Hair
I kept my hair pretty simple by just flat ironing it.
Tease the crown of the head using a teasing comb.
Take two sections, one from each side of the head, twist them and bobby pin them back.
This takes more of the focus off of the hair and more on the face. :)
Finish with a flexible hold hair spray.

The Makeup

For the eyes
Use a satin shimmery gold color all over the lid
Place a bronze shimmer color on the outer part of the eye lid blending it into the outer V area
Use a neural matte brown eye shadow in the crease
Use a matte eye shadow a few shades lighter than your skin tone under the brow
Take the same bronze shimmer color and smudge it on the outer region of the lower lash line
Then take the same shimmery gold color and smudge it on the inner lower lash line towards the tear duct
Apply Mascara and curl your lashes
Apply any tapered false eye lashes

For the cheeks
Apply a bronze blush on the lower apples of the cheeks, blending towards the hairline

For the lips
Apply any berry colored lipstick
A berry colored lipstick is very classy without looking overdone. It is much easier to pull of than a red lip.

Key Colors

The Clothes
For this look, my key piece is the neutral blazer.
I went with a lighter color blazer in order to not look too dark with my darker lip color.

A simple cream colored shirt is worn under the blazer.
To give off more of a casual yet dressy vibe I wore a dark wash pair of jeggings

The Accessories
A leopard scarf is worn to add interest to the outfit
(Leopard accessories are a great fall fashion trend!)

I wore simple gold jewelry pieces to add a touch of glamour.
The spike bracelet gives a bit of edginess to the outfit.

For my nails I went for a rich darker pink color to add a fun fall color to the outfit.
(It looks red in the picture but I swear its not! haha)

I wore a darker bag in contrast to the lightness of the blazer and shoes.
It has a snake skin pattern which adds a new texture to the outfit.

And for the shoes.. I wore a pair of platform nude/beige colored pumps.

I wore this look for my boyfriend and I's 3 year anniversary. :)
I felt that it was very appropriate for the fall weather. It is very comfortable yet dressy and very classy.

Blazer and Pumps- Charlotte Russe
Jeggings- American Eagle

I hope everyone has a good Saturday!
